Tranquility is a bluetooth speaker that combines the concept of music and meditation, hoping to creates an atmosphere of concentration.
Atmosphere Design
“Sitting in front of the desk, you find that tests and deadlines are accompanied by enormous pressures. This not only makes you anxious, yet hard to concentrate, resulting in low efficiency and unable to accomplish tasks.” This kind of predicament happens on everyone, however there is a lack of products to help people stay focus. Thus, I want to design a focus-aid product to help people stay concentrated.

Research
Understanding people’s working process by interviews.
PREPARING
Before starting to work, people are used to doing something special to create a sense of ritual, such as apply hand cream, tidy up their desk, or fill up their water bottles.
WORKING
In order to stay focus, most of people listen to music or study with their friends while they are working.
LOW-EFFICIENCY STATE
When people get distracted, they tend to cut off working state briefly. Some people go to library to change their working environment, while others calm down through meditation, exercising, or even having some snakes.

Brainstorming x Ideations
I brainstormed to judge which kinds of product can most accurately achieve the desired atmosphere.The final decision is a bluetooth speaker, considering that music can be a good way to create the focused atmosphere, and the fact that people listen to music at works. Then, I developed various speakers to chose the best implementation to continue.
Prototyping
In this step, I make several prototypes to discover
how to meet the product functions while
achieving design semantics. Through the
comparisons, I find that elongated shape better
matches the design semantics, however, it does
not realize the product functions.
Make it work
Thus, I specifically modify the slim design, and take the mechanics and the ergonomics into account. After the modification, the design better accomplishes the needs.

Without any button, Tranquility’s switch and
volume are all controlled by it’s top cover.
Features
The transperent cover provides not only an interesting using experience but also a special meditation way. People can breathe regularly against the cover, and the speaker will return feedback rhythm to let people adjust their breathing stability base on the music. Thus, people can achieve stable breathing and settle down.
How to use
Power on
press the top cover, it’ll open up automatically to create a sense of ritual
Normal mode
after the speaker turns on, you can connect to Bluetooth to play songs
Volume adjustment
control volume with the top cover intuitively.Turn down, volume down
Breath exercise mode
when you get distracted, you can breathe against the cover, the speaker returns feedback rhythms
Power down
returns the top cover back in place to turns off the speaker
